Drawing on a Nude Body
Since its inauguration by Prince Youssef Kamal in 1908, the Faculty of Fine Arts became one of the few places in Egypt that features the practice of “life models”. Specific families inherited this job over the years, until the nude model was banned in the 1970’s. The short film “Drawing on a Nude Body” looks at the life models of today and examines the dynamics of art in Egypt through the eyes of the “Life Models”. So instead of posing silently, the models were given a platform to talk about art, the academic institution and their job.
