The White Night Thursday Screenings – Cinema and Human Rights

The Mediterranean Encounters for Cinema and Human Rights Association continued its successful program, “The White Night for Cinema and Human Rights,” celebrating a year of cinematic activities and promoting a culture of human rights. The initiative featured weekly Thursday screenings, with the December program specifically aimed at strengthening the association’s presence and compensating for the festival’s postponement announced earlier in the summer.

Highlights of December Screenings:

  • “The Tangerine Tree” by director Mariam Adao was screened at Cinema Al-Nahda in Rabat, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker.

Highlights of November Screenings:

  • “Sisters” by director Noura Al-Hersh, addressing violence against young women in the Maghreb. The screenings were followed by open discussions with filmmakers, actresses, and activists as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This initiative was supported by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and the association.
  • “Girls of the Fifth Floor” by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, in collaboration with the United Nations Women’s Program in Morocco.

This program marks the third edition of the Women’s Rights Film Week, organized by the association. The initiative aims to inspire and educate audiences by shedding light on the struggles of women for equality and their resilience in facing challenges. The event featured meaningful film screenings, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities with experts and activists.
